Low voltage fabric is designed to use in environments where a low level of residual static electricity must be achieved.
Polyester Cleanroom garments produce static electricity as the fabric rubs together or comes into contact with other garments worn in the cleanroom. Thousands of volts of static electricity may build up and be suddenly discharged, causing damage to sensitive products such as microchips and disc drives.
For example, magnetoresistive (MR) read heads used in hard disc drives are susceptible to ESD damage. For an efficient ESD garment system, the electrostatic charge should be dissipated very quickly and the residual charge should be less than 20 volts.
Low voltage fabric is made with a unique conductive yarn that provides an integral electricity is conducted away from the fabric as quickly as possible to be dissipated into the 'earth' or surrounding environment.
Low voltage fabric is a densely woven fabric made of non-linting filament yarn that also gives excellent particle filtration efficiency.
